Leopard: The Solitary Wanderer

Leopards (Panthera pardus), known for their adaptability and stealth, are solitary creatures that adjust their territories based on prey availability and environmental conditions. While they are not migratory in the strict sense, leopards in mountainous regions or areas with distinct wet and dry seasons often shift their ranges seasonally.

For example, leopards in the Himalayan foothills descend to lower altitudes during winter to find prey and avoid deep snow. In savannahs, they may move closer to water sources during dry seasons, where prey is more concentrated. Protecting leopards’ natural habitats and maintaining connectivity between regions is essential to ensure their survival and ecological role as apex predators.
